CLUB ACCESS

Welcome

Welcome to the Club — you are now a part‑owner of this facility. As a member, you may come and go as you please and enjoy the Club anytime it’s accessible. Because we are a small, volunteer‑run organization, we do not have staff on site. That’s why we use a combination‑lock system for access.

Dial in the combination printed on the back of your membership card. Be sure to line the numbers up with the black index mark, which is slightly offset toward the top of the lock.

Main Gate Procedure

To protect both security and member safety, please follow these steps:

1. Upon entering, close the gate behind you.

2. Scramble the combination, place the lock back on the gate so it appears locked, but do not click it shut.

3. If others are still on site when you leave, close the gate and leave the lock as above.

4. If you are the last member to leave, close the gate and fully lock it.

5. During scheduled events, the gate may remain open so non‑members can visit and consider joining.

This procedure prevents non‑members from reading the combination (the Club experienced a break‑in in May 2026) while still allowing quick exit in an emergency.

Members must display their membership card while on the range — pinned to clothing or on a lanyard. To protect the card, consider covering it with clear packing tape or using a small lamination sleeve.

CLUBHOUSE

The Clubhouse is available for all members, and we continue to improve what we offer. As a part‑owner, you share responsibility for keeping it clean, safe, and welcoming.

Access With a PAL

Members with a valid PAL — or guests accompanied by a PAL‑holding member — may use:

• Pistol range

• Rifle range

• Trap range

• Clubhouse

Access Without a PAL

Members without a PAL may use:

• Archery range

• Clubhouse (heat, electricity, hot/cold water)

BBQ Use

A propane BBQ is available at no cost. If it is still hot when you finish, leave it outside and far enough from the building to avoid heat damage to the vinyl siding.

Clean‑Up Expectations

Because we have no staff, members must leave the Clubhouse ready for the next person:

• Clean and put away dishes

• Tidy garbage

• Return tools and supplies

• Turn off lights and appliances

• Lock doors and gate if you are the last to leave

Seasonal Access

The road is not maintained in winter and the water system must be shut off before freezing. However, if you can reach the Club by snowmobile, skis, or other means, you are welcome to use what remains available.

PRIVATE RENTALS & BLACKOUT DATES

From time to time, the Clubhouse — and occasionally the ranges — may be booked by outside agencies or private groups.

To help members plan their visits:

• Watch for posted blackout dates and specific times on the bulletin board or in newsletters.

• When a range or the Clubhouse is rented, signage will be posted stating “Range Rented.”

• Once the booking ends for the day, members may use the range again if the facility is clear and safe.

Please respect the privacy of rental groups and do not interrupt their activities. If you have concerns, speak with a Club Officer or Director, not the guests.

RANGES

Members are generally responsible for their own target stands and targets outside of Club programs. However, you will often find stands and targets in the tool room (middle door in the entrance hallway).

Inside the tool room:

• Spotting scope (on top of blue cabinet)

• Gun‑rest sandbags (top left shelf)

• Target staples and stapler

• Targets (when available)

If targets are present, members may use them.

PROGRAMS / EVENTS

The Club currently runs trap shooting on Sundays at 2:00 PM, weather and road conditions permitting.

• A fee applies for each round of 25 clays

• Bring your own shells (sizes 7½, 8, or 9)

• Clays must be purchased from the Club

Weekly Priority Schedule

This schedule helps reduce conflicts and group similar users together:

• Monday – Handgun priority

• Tuesday – Trap league (evening)

• Wednesday – Rifle priority

• Thursday – IPSC priority

• Friday – Archery priority

• Saturday – Open

• Sunday – Trap league (afternoon)

Members may still attend any day — this is simply a fair‑use guideline.

Trap practice typically lasts 3–4 hours. Competitions (4–5 per year) take most of the day. Some members arrive early on Sundays (10:00 AM) for handgun/rifle time. Archery users are also active — let us know if you’d like to connect with them.

Check newsletters and the bulletin board for event updates.

RANGE INSTRUCTIONS & LOG BOOK

All shooters must make an entry in the Rod & Gun Club Log Book, as required by the Firearms Act.

You may enter anonymously using:

• Membership number

• Date

• Type of activity

The log book is usually on the main table or TV stand.

Range Officer Requirement

For safety, two or more shooters may not shoot simultaneously without a Range Officer.

• A Range Officer must be declared when more than one shooter is on the same range

• Only approved individuals may act as RO (list posted in the Clubhouse)

• If someone is already shooting when you arrive, you must:

  • Wait,

  • Return later, or

  • Shoot one at a time with the other member

GUESTS

Members are fully responsible for their guests.

• $10 non‑member range fee applies

• Forms and instructions are in the Clubhouse

• Members must collect and remit the fee

Safety and responsible conduct are mandatory.

As a part‑owner, your care and respect for the Club help keep this a safe, enjoyable, and sustainable resource for everyone.
